At Roehampton Students' Union, we make sure your academic voice is heard. We listen to and champion student feedback, drive meaningful change, and work in partnership with students, Academic Representatives, and University staff to enhance the student experience.

What are Academic Reps?

Academic reps make sure student voices are heard at every level of the University. The system is made up of Programme Reps, School Reps, the elected President Education (Sabbatical Officer), and specialist SU support staff all working together in partnership with university to raise issues, suggest improvements, and celebrate what’s going well in your academic experience.

Who represents you?

Every Academic Rep plays a key role in making your academic experience better, from lecture quality to assessment fairness, student feedback has led to tangible improvements across the University. Find out how they represent you.

Programme Reps

Programme Reps represent the academic interests of students at programme level by gathering feedback from their peers. They work closely with School Representatives, Programme Leads, and the Students' Union to ensure student feedback is raised at Programme Board meetings each term.

In addition, Programme Representatives encourage students to participate in university feedback opportunities, such as Speak Week, Module Evaluation Surveys, and the National Student Survey (NSS). This helps ensure that student feedback is collected and communicated effectively, enabling timely action and continuous improvement of the student experience.

School Reps

School Reps are senior student representatives who work at the school level to support Programme Reps and represent wider student feedback. At Roehampton, each academic School has two School Reps: one for undergraduate students and one for postgraduate students.

They attend key university meetings such as the Education Forum and work closely with the President Education and RSU staff to ensure student voices influence decisions at the highest level.

President Education

The President Education is a full-time, elected sabbatical officer responsible for leading on all things academic at the SU. They:

Oversee the academic representation system
Collaborate and support Programme and school reps
Attend University-level meetings like Student Education Committee
Campaign for improvements to your academic experience

They are your go-to person for discussing wider issues affecting students across Roehampton. Ultimately, the President Education works to ensure that the academic representation system is being used effectively across the University. Other Opportunities To Get Involved

Roehampton Students' Union works in partnership with the University of Roehampton to ensure your academic interests are represented. In addition to being school and programme representatives there are plenty of other opportunities to get involved within RSU & have your voice heard:

Student Voice Forums - These events are an opportunity for students to socialise with peers and staff, and provide informal feedback about your academic experience. They take place every term.
RSU Education Forum - This is an opportunity for you to come together with Programme Reps, School Reps and the Students’ Union Representation team to share your feedback, concerns, and opinions on you and your peers’ academic experience at the University of Roehampton.

Student societies - Societies are student-led groups where you can explore your interests, meet like-minded people, and make unforgettable memories. Whether you’re into music, gaming, activism, culture, or something totally niche, there’s a society for you. If it doesn’t exist, we’ll help you create your own new society. Anybody can volunteer as a society leader where you’ll receive training and build skills. As well as creating incredible memories, you will have the opportunity to build a community, gain some new skills and even do some networking depending on the type of society you join.
Students’ Union Council  - (also known as SU Council) is the Union’s central policy setting body. It considers motions, debates proposals, receives officer accountability reports, and may call referenda. It is made up of students who represent different groups and communities across campus, such as Academic Representatives, Elected Officers and Student Groups.
Meet your Elected RSU Officers - These officers are here to represent and promote your voice on campus! Throughout the year, they will work on campaigns to imrpove your student experience, and ensure you have the best time at University!
LEAP (Learning English for Academic Purposes) - The LEAP Programme is a university-funded initiative delivered in partnership with Roehampton Students’ Union. Together, we aim to ensure international students feel supported both academically and socially, while strengthening the sense of community on campus. With students from over 180 countries, Roehampton’s global community is one of its greatest strengths and LEAP plays a key role in helping students feel at home while achieving their full potential.
