Roehampton Students’ Union (RSU) is planning to maintain service delivery for the benefit of our members during this uncertain and rapidly developing public health situation relating to Covid-19 (Coronavirus).

The health of our people, which include students, elected officers and representatives, staff, volunteers and partners is of the highest priority to us. We are planning to operate with a degree of flexibility over the coming weeks.

RSU continues to work closely with the University and follow the advice provided by Public Health England. The latest guidance about the disease and the University’s response can be found by visiting: www.roehampton.ac.uk/coronavirus 

RSU will be operating some of its services remotely from Tuesday 17 March 2020

RSU is preparing to ensure that its service delivery continues during this period of disruption. As we embark upon a period of remote service delivery, you will notice a few temporary changes to how services are accessed. The plans for some events and activities are also changing, for the time being.

All RSU services and functions will operate between 09.00-17.00 each day.

 

Remote Access

AS RSU operates on a remote working basis, the RSU reception will continue to function and all enquiries should be emailed to: rsu@roehampton.ac.uk where they will be assessed and forwarded to the appropriate recipient who will respond accordingly.

 

Academic Advice

RSU will continue to provide students with advice on academic matters. In the event the service does not take face-to-face appointments, telephone appointments can be arranged by emailing rsu@roehampton.ac.uk. Our advisers will assess and prioritise cases as normal and arrange a telephone appointment with you as appropriate.

In terms of student representation at university meetings, the RSU will follow university scheduling for these, which may include the running of meetings by video conference. In such circumstances, RSU will provide guidance on a case-by-case basis and provide guidance to students each time. Students who are already receiving support from the RSU will continue to do so, and they will be offered guidance from our advisors about the next steps.

 

Events

As a Students’ Union, we have a duty of care to help not only our own students but the wider community, so we have taken the decision to postpone RSU events until further notice. These events include BOP, Clapham Wednesdays and day activations that we had planned for you. It also includes Society events, meetings or student-led events on or off-campus.

All events are postponed until further notice.

RSU will continually review the advice of Public Health England and the University and we will let you know if events will resume or be postponed further. Any student that has purchased a ticket for an event that has been cancelled will receive a full refund. Please contact rsu@roehampton.ac.uk to request this.

 

Societies & Activities

Societies will continue to function, but there are limitations in accordance with the restrictions we have placed on events. All society events are postponed until further notice, and all society meetings will take place by video conference. Society trips to other universities will be treated on a case-by-case basis, following the advice of both the University and host location.

If students have purchased tickets for society events, they are eligible for a refund, or their tickets will be transferred to any rescheduled event.

Students that have purchased Theatre Tuesday events should contact rsu@roehampton.ac.uk to receive information about the show they have tickets for.

 

Elections

The current RSU elections that were due to take place between 16-19 March have been paused. In accordance with the limitations we have placed on RSU events, the elections will resume at a point in time when we return to normal operations. The elections schedule, that includes a Candidate Question Time, campaigning and the voting week, will resume at a later date.

 

The Hive Café

The Hive Café remains open but is operating at a reduced capacity, so you will notice a few minor menu changes. In the event of significant disruption, we will review its service arrangements.

As part of a set of sanitation protocols employed in relation to the public health situation, the Hive is no longer accepting cash but will accept card and contactless payment methods.

The Hive remains open between 08.30-14.30 daily.
