10am - 3pm

Froebel College

Overview

The ancient orchard was established almost 100 years ago and is tucked away amongst all the other trees on campus. You can find an entrance by the orchard’s information sign on Lime Tree Walk between Froebel and Digby colleges if you want to visit.

Autumn 2013 was a bumper year for apples. Growhampton collected 250 kg of apples from these orchards and pressed 90 litres of amazing juice. Once pressed in a traditional apple press all we needed to do was add a little vitamin c and the juice lasted for up to a week in the fridge.

This year is looking to be a great year for apples, and together with the Orchard Project we will be doing some exciting conservation work in the orchard as well as harvesting apples for making juice and cider.

Meet us in front of the Hive Cafe at 10am, or come find us in the old orchard. Drop-in drop-out as you please, we will be there until 3pm.

Make sure to wear warm and appropriate clothing, and bring a packed lunch if you plan on staying for the whole day.
