Empowering Students, Leading with Love. Enhancing Your Experience.

Hello Roehampton Family,

I'm Stacey, a third year Dance student and I am running to be your Student Union President.

I'm friendly, caring and kind - I trust that our next President will be someone who is approachable and gets everyone's views heard, someone like me. I am not afriad to stand up for what I believe in, and I believe in this student body. I feel a strong voice will increase student morale which is needed in order to empower Roehampton students. I would like to be that voice. I wish to be a part of an RSU which constantly works for you, including constant feedback and engagement with students via social media too.

Our Student Union has managed to create new initiatives recently; things I'd like to work with the Uni to improve upon and develop:

  • I will continue work started with BAME ambassadors/ VP Education to further explore how to close the Attainment Gap.
  • I will create more Daytime events and pop-ups at Uni to increase the community feel and engage with more off-campus students.
  • I will focus on highlighting issues seen in evaluation forms to ensure a high quality of teaching is felt by students.
  • I will create a higher emphasis on the "Ideas Page", as many students are unaware that they can change and adapt the Uni they are paying for.
  • I want to bring back the "Elephant in the Room" campaign to diminish stigma surrounding mental health.
  • I will continue work started with Sabb team to increase morale felt by students, focusing on liberation groups. With bigger and better Women's/BAME/LGBTQ+ Conferences and more publicity for religious festivals celebrated at Uni.
  • I will review library opening times, as per student concerns that the 24/7 times and dates are not enough.
  • I will actively look into creating a safe, warm, social space on campus for those who live off-campus.

Finally, I would like to introduce a fully online version of the Mitcircs submission form, which will allow those of us who suffer from invisible illnesses to still get our extensions. Where getting into the library to print out a form, to then hand into the department office may seem impossible - your SOA should prove useful! I would then look into having this available to anyone who can provide evidence for extensions/deferrals.

If elected, I will work my hardest for you. The students who make up the heart and soul of this establishment.

Roehampton has given me some of the best years of my life, let me help it do so for you too.

Thanks,

Stacey <3
