Hi, I’m Shivam Mehra, a 3^rd Year Undergrad studying Biological Sciences. My time at Roehampton has been so rewarding for me that I wanted to continue to contribute to this amazing university even after graduating! I know that the RSU can be a strong force for change on behalf of all Roehampton students and was lucky enough to work with them as a Programme Rep. Along with my fellow Representatives, the RSU helped us to extend our dissertation deadline by 16 days!

Experience: Flat Rep in Elm Grove, Programme Rep for Biological Sciences

As a Whitelands student for the past 3 years, I know that many of my peers have felt isolated from the other 3 colleges, the main campus, and the general atmosphere of university life there. I believe it is important to increase communication across all colleges and programmes because it is important to see what we can learn from one another.

What I Want to Do:

1. Communicate more effectively within colleges so that students have the opportunity to meet their peers from other programmes.
2. Introduce opportunities for 3^rd years to mentor 2^nd years, and 2^nd years to mentor 1st-year students. Offer help with modules, study skills, and general programme advice.
3. Bring more attention to the programme rep scheme so that all students have the opportunity and knowledge to become a programme rep and all students know who their programme reps are.
4. Implement a more organized system (a ”suggestion box” system similar to the Ideas page on the RSU website) for student suggestions that Programme Reps would have access to; a forum in which they and other students could reply on.
5. Require lecture recording and compulsory obligation for lecture materials used in class to be made available online within a reasonable time frame.
6. Make more scholarship opportunities available for international students.
