CIARA ANSLEY

Feel heard, feel safe, and feel accepted.

Hello!

My name is Ciara Ansley and I am running to be LGBTQ+ Officer. I have been proactive in Roehampton’s queer community since my first year, and am currently the Vice President of the LGBTQ+ society.

If elected, I aim to create and run university-wide campaigns for raising awareness of LGBTQ+ issues whilst also tackling homophobia that still exists on campus. I want to ensure that LGBTQ+ students across the university are aware and kept in the loop with events and campaigns both university-wide and nationally. I will work closely with the VP of Welfare on introducing a network of support systems across campus specifically for LGBTQ+ students, allowing any issues to be dealt with quickly and confidentially. This would include appointments with myself or the welfare team to ensure that we can give you the best support possible.

I want to make Roehampton a safe space for every single student, and allow their voice to be heard on a larger scale. I want to implement an open-door policy for any suggestions, ideas, and concerns to ensure that the LGBTQ+ community works together to keep expanding and making the university a better, safer place. I want to work closely with the LGBTQ+ society in providing a space where all members of the community feel comfortable and safe in attending, whilst also continuing a fun and inclusive range of activities.

I want to focus on university wide pride marches, the revival of Pride BOP. I want to create  areas across the university to allow students to learn more about what LGBTQ+ stands for and how to support the community both from the inside but also as an ally.

I want every person in Roehampton to feel heard, feel safe, and feel accepted.
