JORDAN BRASON

In 1860 Abraham Lincoln said ''vote yourself a farm(boy)''. Vote me as your first choice! A vote for me is a vote for your voice!

Hello fellow badgers,

I am Jordan Brason, but some of you may know me as ‘’ Farmboy ‘’, a nickname which was given to me simply because people from London have never met someone who actually lives on a farm, and I will be running for the role of Whitelands College President.

I am Currently a Foundation Year Student Studying Business Management, only being in year 1 next year will mean that I have more time to dedicate to improving the lives of every single person who lives and studies on whitelands. This extra time alongside my hardworking nature, determination and the fact I am never willing to take no for an answer, will allow me to fulfil ALL of my promises and goals which I set out to achieve as president. Also, being extremely approachable and friendly means people will feel at ease and more comfortable when reaching out to me with concerns or ideas they may have.

Ultimately, I want to give back to the college that I love so much and have called home for the last year, by stretching it to its ultimate potential and helping it become the best it can possibly be.

Some ways I aim to do this is by:

  • Putting more pressure on the university for: faster internet, the installation of washing machines that accept card and a change machine, the re-installation of the coffee machine by reception, as well as faster repairs by maintenance on items such as doors and gates.
  • Creating a stronger community feeling by having the blocks interact with each other more, by starting an annual ‘block wars’ competition, which will see the blocks compete against each other in a number of varying events. As-well as updating the current communal spaces so they have a more relaxed feeling for people to socialise and study in. And starting an annual end of year awards ceremony with varying awards which all whitelands students can nominate and vote in.
  • Working with all of the newly elected officers to resolve problems which affect the students they represent and placing a suggestions box in reception allowing everyone’s voice is heard.
  • Creating an official whitelands football team as we are the only college which doesn’t have one.
  • working with the new Mental Health Officer to raise awareness of mental health problems and actively  promote the support which is available.
  • Setting up a scheme in which younger students can seek help from older students who take the same course or modules.
  • Setting up events such as movie nights or live music/comedy nights in which students can perform In The Sett. As well as making it easier for students to set up and create their own events.
  • Working closely with the new Off Campus Officer to make the large percentage of students who live off campus feel more included and part of the whitelands family.

if you can’t vote for me as number one, please vote for me as number two as every vote matters.
