Real G's don't move in silence like lasagne, they're a voice for students when in power. #INDIA4FSP

Well, Who Are You?

I’m India-Saffron Cameron, a second year Marketing student who’s been a part of Sport Roehampton since last September. I’ve decided to run for Female Sports President as although my membership hasn’t been longer than other candidates for this role, I feel that being integrated with many diverse people whilst being passionate about the same thing has made me feel welcome in this university.

For those who don’t know, at Roehampton I participate in sports ranging from Rugby to Badminton, at home I enjoy Tennis, and previously I specialised Track & Field as well as others.

With my experience of being a Student Rep, I am able to maintain a healthy relationship with sabbatical members of the RSU, so I am already aware of how my voice and ideas can influence decisions made to improve the student experience. I am certain that my qualities will work well in accordance to the role I want to adopt from 2018 until I graduate.

Okay That’s Cool and All, But What Can You Do for Me?

  • Introduce Trans inclusive sports teams through working with the elected LGBTQ+ and Trans officers.

  • Organise sporting social events that include the whole of Sport Roehampton, this will inevitably make the Roehampton team feel less segregated.

  • Communicate regularly with the RSU to ensure that every inquiry is responded to as soon as humanly possible.

  • Utilise the costs of your Sport Roehampton memberships by leading a wider range of competitive events across the academic year amongst colleges.

  • More mixed gender sports (not putting you guys against each other, I predict that we will learn vital techniques from one another in order to finesse the league matches!).

  • Solve all problems as soon as they arise by treating everyone with the same level of importance regardless of gender, sexuality, class and religion.

  • Personalised team kits will make you feel like more than just a number in a team, but an individual who is necessary for the advancement of your team.

  • Encourage major and local campaigns that raise awareness on important issues that may affect you as a member of a sports team or people you know, for example, Stonewall’s LGBTQ+ fundraising campaign as well as other mental health, disability and anti-discriminatory fundraiser events.

  • Heavily market every sporting event through multiple channels to encourage massive support from students who are keen to spectate but don’t know the details.

  • Lead Sport Roehampton members with the motivation to live healthier lifestyles which will ultimately enhance performance.

  • Introduce sporting activities that are specialised towards students with physical and mental difficulties.

I believe that all of these goals are realistic to work on or complete during my presence as Female Sports President. I am happy to answer any of your questions at cameroni@roehampton.ac.uk.

Much love.
