CONOR PRIESTLEY

Pride on your side!

Hey Lions. My name is Conor Priestley and I’m a first year Drama, Theatre and Performance student. You might know me better as the really tall guy whos hair always changes colour. I’ve loved my time at Roehampton so far and being part of Digby has had a massive impact on my time here. I’m proud to be part of such a strong college and as deputy president I want to continue making our college stronger.

In my short time at Roehampton I have become involved with many aspects of university life. Something I’m most proud of is helping to set up my own society, RoePaul’s Drag Society. As vice president of the society I have gained valuable experience in helping lead a team of people and working well as part of a team. I’m also an active member of many other societies and am on the Roehampton Rascals cheer team. I feel it’s important to take as many opportunities as you can while at university and want to help others make the most of their university experience and provide a variety of opportunities for them.

An important change I want to make within the college involves the arrival of new international students. I want to work closely with the international arrivals team to improve upon the way we welcome new international students as part of our pride on Digby. We need more visibility from people such as flat reps when internationals arrive especially in the second semester. I feel this will help everyone to feel more welcome and settled into their flats. As someone who has utilised the help of my flat rep and someone who will be a flat rep in second year, I understand the importance of flat reps to any new student.

When it comes to social events I want to bring everyone on Digby together and improve inter-college pride. I want to organise competitions between different flats within accommodation buildings and between accommodation buildings themselves. I feel this will help everyone integrate better with each other and build a stronger college. I also want to organise more social events within Digby and cater to everyone’s interests by providing events from parties to film nights and event screenings.

Another change I would make is to improve the visibility of security. Our security team already do a great job but I want to make sure that everyone feels safe and comfortable within Digby. I would do this by introducing security at welcome talks, making them feel more approachable to students.

Digby Stuart is an amazing college and I want to continue to make Digby an amazing place for others. If you vote for me for deputy president I will work hard alongside the new president to ensure Digby continues to be a welcoming place where we all feel part of the pride.

Always part of the pride! xoxo
