ROBYN BLOOMFIELD

The Robyn to Digby's Batman

Hi, I’m Robyn 2nd year Drama running for Digby Deputy President. For the last 2 years I have lived and worked on Digby College so I am a purebred Digby Lion through and through. Being part of societies such as SSOAP, RAG and the women's rugby team means I have interacted with a wide range of students from different courses and backgrounds. I can draw from these experiences to help Digby college be the best and support its students throughout their time at University. To truly give you the opportunities to have a great Roehampton experience I need to improve the COMMUNICATION that runs through the heart of our college. By electing me I will help create and maintain clearer communication pathways across this campus.

Firstly, I want improve the communication between students and the maintenance staff. Sometimes the issue is too complicated to explain via roebot or you just don’t know what relevant information is needed. I will create time slots where the students can request when maintenance comes and fixes whatever is broken in your flat. So then students don’t have to be woken up at 9am on the one day you have off disrupting that oh so important lie in! This means that you can make sure that the broken item is easily accessible and visible, also if you wish you will be able to talk to the workers and fully explain the issue. They should also be given calling cards which they leave behind so that if the issue is not fully fixed the student has a point of reference.

Our college is a multi-cultural hub and this means that the needs of our students are various and so I believe that this should be seen within the college team. I will aim to see this done within the well-being team.

I also aim to have events that don’t just break the ice but smash it completely. Digby is the biggest college and yet has the smallest events. It's about time our welcome party was something our pride is proud of. My aim is to have a welcome party that allows for conversations to flow. I want every student part of Digby to feel from day 1 a part of this college and be so passionate that they will roar at the top of their lungs whenever the opportunity arises “I’m Digby Till I Die”.  London can be a daunting thought and its so easy to hide away on campus so I want to create an event in central to kick start them to love life while living in London.

Finally, social spaces. As one of the biggest colleges students feel that they need a chill out space. Somewhere without that nagging feeling that you should rather be doing work. You know the feeling when you're sat in the library with Netflix open, hoping no one is judging you. Well if you elect me I will create a chill space to help de-stress and re-energize.
