KATIE RICHARDS

Re-elect me as your Off Campus Officer!

My name is Katie Richards; I’m your current elected Off Campus Officer, President of the Off Campus Society and Head of the ROCs (Roehampton Off campus mentors). Having enjoyed my time being apart of the RSU, I will be re-running for the same position.

Throughout the year, I’ve done my best to promote the RSU within the off campus community. We now have over 130 likes on our Facebook and 43 members of the society; at the start of the year those numbers were less then 20. We have had many successful events and I feel I have promoted many events that are currently held by the RSU as well as events that I have planned; a cocktail night (which is now termly), sports socials and many more upcoming events and promoting of what the RSU are planning.

If I am re-elected, i promise to Roehampton students…

  1. Opening up better means of communication; it has been made very clear to me that even though we have a Facebook page, group chats and a society at every RSU fair, communication about upcoming events is still not reaching all students. So I would like to create better line of commination with email updates and other social media.
  2. Having been a lead ROC, I feel I am better prepared for newer students coming to Roehampton. For next year, I would like to incorporate the ROCs and make sure that they are promoting the RSU events to allow commination to be more direct.
  3. I would like to carry on creating and organising events for off campus students and discussions with sport Roehampton on how off campus students can be more involved with the social side to sport. Along with planned cocktail nights in local areas and socials, I want to ensure that even though students are living off campus they are still included within the culture of university.
  4. I would like to promote the wellbeing team to students, making it more well known; as I now aware of the struggle to get into university on time, as well as keeping on top of readings, essays and attending study groups. I would like to promote mental health and facilities the university provides to help students keep a healthy and happy approach to coming into university.
  5. Having done this role for a year now, I can honestly say it has been one of the most insightful experiences. I feel, having done this role, I now am in a better position for next year to make off campus students a priority when planning events and continue the success I have had so far.
  6. I feel that I have made myself contactable during my time as an officer and I will be maintaining that if I am re-elected. I am open to suggestions of how to increase my accessibility to students who may need help.

Thank you for taking the time to read my manifesto, I hope to count on your vote!
