BE PROUD OF THE PRIDE #lucy4thelions

Hello Pride of Roehampton, I am Lucy. As everyone knows we are proud to be Lions and Lionesses, we strive to create a community for everyone and make sure that as the pride, we stick together. I want to be the person who speaks for those who feel they can’t, to be the friendly face always there to talk and listen, no matter what time.

With events constantly happening throughout the year such as bop, fez and summer ball, we do like a drink, however, there is a large percentage of our college that don’t participate in drinking culture and unfortunately sometimes this can be over looked. I want to create more social events that will be open for everyone to participate in, such as Mocktail competitions, that will be added to the student unions cocktail list if won leaving your mark in Frobel.

Digby Lions, our pride and joy, we celebrate them with the Digby strip, Frigby and Varsity. How would you ladies on campus like to participate in our very own football team? The lionesses! I endeavour to campaign ‘This Lioness Can’. Working alongside Roehampton sports President, I aim to get more activities for girls run across Digby, such as yoga sessions on the lawn and girl’s college football. I want Digby Lionesses to be proud of themselves and show the Lion’s we can!

Although we may not have bop, we have the brand-new library, with study rooms, moving bookshelves and a café, what else could we possibly need? It wasn’t until I needed a study room I noticed a problem, where was I to go? When investigating it seemed First and Second years were quickest at booking the rooms. I venture to explore the potential of creating Third-year study rooms within the old library, creating a calm and uncomplicated final year at Roehampton. It is also becoming more of an issue when deadlines approach, the lack of eating space in the library, I propose having an eat and study area in the old library, so those all-nighters go smoothly.

The Digby Diner. The hall of pre’s, the perfect venue for birthdays and the best food on the campus, however after 2:30pm, that is no longer an option. With the union being the only on-campus diner that is open later than lunch, I would like to propose dinner at the diner, for those of you who don’t want pub grub when you’re tired of cooking. The diner serves home cooked, healthy foods, that we all love, and I need your help to allow us to have that available all day.

My final point is to create more social occasions for international students. Getting events organised that allow you to see the city, experience monuments all over the county, and get to know the students at Roehampton. I hope this will create a more diverse community where we give everyone the fullest experience possible.
