Fellow Students, Faculty and Staff,

I am honoured to present my candidacy for the position of Digby Stuart College President, driven by a deep commitment to address the pressing issues that affect our students and the broader community. My name is Sai Chand Kasoju (KAS22599387) and I’m pursuing my Masters of Science in Data Science.

Our esteemed university is in the heart of London with diversity, talent and intellectual pursuit. However, there are challenges in every student’s life and it is crucial to address the key concerns affecting us all: Cost of living, Employability, Climate and Mental Health.

Challenges: 1. Cost of Living:

  • Living in one of the most luxurious and expensive cities in the world has its ups and downs.
  • The cost of living in London is a little on the higher end.
  • To mitigate this, we can conduct financial enlightening programs where we discuss the benefits we avail as a student living in London.
  • Also, work across the university to implement innovative strategies that help the students in saving some money.
  1. Employability:
    • Being an international student, I know how it feels to be financially dependent on our loved ones.
    • And getting a part-time or a full-time job is becoming more and more tougher in recent times all over the world.
    • Arranging job fairs, assisting the students in CV building and providing information on job opportunities eases the student’s struggle to land a parttime/full-time job.
  2. Climate:
    • The city of London has the most beautiful weather but it gets too harsh in no time.
    • The climatic conditions of London are unpredictable and many students are concerned about this.
    • Conducting awareness programs and embedding climate awareness into curriculums to empower and educate the students regarding the climate crisis.
  3. Mental Health and Well-being:
    • Nowadays mental health has become one of the biggest concerns.
    • Every person must take care of themselves both physically and mentally.
    • Organizing events and activities like stress reduction programs and expanding the mental health services on campus.
    • Transforming the college into a welcoming second home for every student should be our goal.

In conclusion, my vision for our college is one of inclusivity, sustainability and prosperity. By addressing these concerns, we can pave the way for a more equitable and resilient educational experience. As your College President, I am dedicated to ensuring that our college not only adapts to the challenges of today but also becomes a model for the universities of tomorrow. Together, we can build a college community that thrives academically, professionally and sustainably.

As an international student, I am experiencing many challenges and know what every student is going through in their everyday life. In my role as College President, I pledge to create an atmosphere that places the well-being, financial stability, and future accomplishments of every student at the forefront.

This is our college, let's collectively shape it into the best place for both current and future generations.

Sincerely,

Sai Chand Kasoju
