SAVE ROEHAMPTON, VOTE HARRISON!

Hello. Namaste. Bonjour. Hallo. Hola. Ni hao. Ciao. Kon’nichiwa. Hyalo. Salam. Sata Sri Akal.

AREN’T YOU ‘THAT GUY’ FROM TIKTOK?

Yes, I guess so – you may know me as ‘the face of Roehampton’ from TikTok. However, my experience includes a previous year as RSU President and Froebel President.

HAVEN’T YOU BEEN HERE YEARS?

Let’s get the record straight. In 2023, I returned to being a student.

  • I work at the NEST, where I have a better understanding of the challenges that students are facing, particularly international students.
  • I was appointed as the academic rep for the School of Education, where I am currently running projects to improve communication and student support.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE IN YOUR PREVIOUS ROLES?

  • Helped raise over £10,000 for a number of charities and organisations.
  • Founded the Froebel Boat Party in Central London and reintroduced the Froebel Holiday.
  • Helped the university achieve a TEF Silver status in 2023.
  • Took Roehampton to Pride in London for the first time, along with 500 businesses and organisations.
  • Promoted Roehampton on TikTok with over 1 million views.

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR TOP-10 PRIORITIES IF RE-ELECTED?

I understand that some students come to university for a better life, some students come to university for the experience, and some students come to university for both. My goals aim to support the issues students are currently facing, as well as improvements I believe are necessary:

  1. Attendance – the process to change attendance needs drastic improvements. Students shouldn’t be attending classes to receive an absent mark on their attendance.
  2. Cost-of-living – the cost of food, accommodation and transport continues to increase each year. This is a priority.
  3. Events – reimagine Freshers' Week with a focus on inclusion and diversity; focus on commuter-friendly activities, recognising every cultural celebration, university exams, sport and society events, as well as introduce welcome events and celebratory events for every intake, helping students make friends.
  4. Jobs – create more opportunities for students to help deliver RSU objectives and sabbatical officer campaigns.
  5. Networks – create the networks outlined from the 2023 RSU Democracy Review which replaces most of the Part Time Officers; bringing students from every background together.
  6. Social Media – create a student-led social media plan for the year, ensuring that students are made aware of everything that goes on at Roehampton.
  7. Student Leaders – introduce incentives, discounts / pay for every student leader (flat reps, programme reps, society leaders etc); encouraging more students to fill these roles.
  8. Timetables – ensure that timetables are published in advance and increase the criteria to be able to change your classes to be more commuting-student friendly.
  9. RSU Location – the RSU can be a difficult location to find, so ensure the RSU is in an accessible location for all students.
  10. ? – number 10 is about listening to you. What do you want?
