Guess who's back. Back again. Amy's Back. Tell a friend. It's all about RS-YOU...part 2

That's right, I am running to be re-elected as your RSU President! I am so thankful to have been your president for this year, it has taught me SO much and I want to do more to make change for you.

If re-elected I will work to achieve the following:

1. Continue to improve the support available for the cost of living

2. Get students registered and ready to vote in the General Election!

3. Develop support for International students!

4. Help students, home and international, to get the best out of their time at Roehampton!

The cost of living crisis is something that is deeply affecting students up and down the country but here at Roehampton is where I plan to focus my change. The basic needs of students are not being met. You are being forced to choose between your studies or working in order to be able to afford the necessities. During my time in office I have worked towards creating resources for students struggling financially.

  • Working to create an access fund so that all students have equal opportunity to take part in student groups and activities.
  • Starting up a community pantry that is stocked with the basics that students need such as hygiene products, stationery and baby products.
  • Working to implement a 'value' range in The Hive.
  • I was also one of the members of the RSU to lobby for the Roehampton University Bus Route to be extended to Putney Bridge.

The General Election is a pivotal time in the UK and it will be happening very soon. I will work to get as many students as possible registered to vote as well as making sure you have a valid photo ID to be able to vote when the day comes. Alongside getting students registered to vote, I will ensure that students are given every opportunity to learn about the impact of voting, how voting works and examples of when voting has led to a pivotal change. You, as students, hold so much power if you vote. I have already been a part of NUS Turn Up Campaign, attending various meetings across London where we used your student voices to form the Student Manifesto.

Roehampton University is such a diverse community! We are lucky enough to be able to experience so many different cultures and experiences through meeting people from different countries from around the world! It is hard enough moving away from home in the country you grew up in, but moving to a whole different country where you know nobody can be ever so daunting! I want to ensure that the correct support is in place for international students to thrive in their studies and their overall experience at Roehampton.

When people ask me what Roehampton University is like, I reply with "it's like a village, everyone knows everyone". Community. That is what I want to help keep going.
