Mr GEORGE WALKER

Hello Froebel,

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is George and I have been a student on Froebel for the past 3 years. Two of those years I have been a flat rep and I have been a proactive member of Froebel throughout my entire University experience. Below I have listed what I hope to bring to the role of Froebel President;

  1. If elected President I promise to represent your views as students to the best of my ability; through attendance to all RSU meetings, active engagements in workshops that affect the student body and by continuously listening to your ideas and concerns in regards to the ways in which the college is run.

  2. With such a large number of students affected by mental health I would like to arrange more events and fundraisers that promote positive mental health awareness and help to build a university environment in which students feel safe, supported and secure. I am running to be Froebel president; however I hope to implement this idea in collaboration with all other part time officers; as this is an initiative that could benefit all students across different colleges. I want students to be aware of all the support available to them and to help eradicate the negative stigmas surrounding mental health.

  3. Froebel provides many fun and exciting events unique to the college, however at times these events can be easily missed. Often notices about these events are posted online, but a Facebook post is easy to scroll past and some students may struggle to find the pages to receive this information. If elected I plan to create a Froebel newsletter (released twice a term) which will include information about up coming events and useful links and contact numbers which may help students with day to day university life. I hope with this newsletter we can have even more involvement from both on and off campus Froebel Students and that no one will miss out on the exciting events provided by the College.

  4. The students of Froebel come from a wide range of different backgrounds and ethnicities; however it seems little is done to celebrate the diversity within the college. If elected, in collaboration with the students I would like to arrange a Froebel College event in which we can celebrate our differences whilst being unified as one College.

  5. Being a part of Froebel College has helped me grow and develop enormously as an individual. I genuinely care about this college and as such care for all those who are a part of it. I promise to be approachable, listen to your concerns and work with you the students to help give others what I myself have gained from being a part of Froebel College.

Thank you for taking the time to read my manifesto, and I hope you give me the chance to represent you the students of Froebel by voting for me to be your Froebel College President.
