“DID SOMEBODY SAY… VOTE HARRISON?!” @HariboCo

Who am I?

Hello! My name is Harrison Cohen and I am your current RSU President, hoping to make history as the first sabbatical officer to step back into the role of a college president.

Why do I want to step back into the role of Froebel President?

Here's the backstory:

  • From 2020-2021, I was the elected Froebel Deputy President, which helped me to understand student leadership at Froebel College whilst maintaining college activities during the pandemic - being the only college to have successful Flat Rep recruitment.
  • From 2021-2022, I was the elected Froebel President, helping the college recover from the pandemic and bring back student events - helping students thrive alongside their studies, whilst creating new events and fundraising initiatives.
  • Since 2022, I have been RSU President, which has given me the skills to campaign to university management and understand the biggest challenges for students.
  • In 2023, I will be returning as a full-time student, where I would love to use my skills gained this year to campaign for change within the college, and continue my journey with Froebel to support your student experience. While I feel that Froebel College is now in a great position in terms of engagement with its on-campus community, there is more to be done to improve the university experience for commuters, and ultimately support graduate outcomes for every one of us.

What are my plans if elected?

  • If elected, I will use the summer to set Officer Objectives for the year, where everything I do will fit under an objective to improve student outcomes and your student experience, helping to measure success against each objective.
  • I plan on reintroducing the Froebel Connect Programme, which would provide a regular programme of daytime events; drop ins; affordable non-drinking events; and mentoring, whilst providing leadership and volunteering opportunities supporting graduate outcomes.
  • I plan on boosting the community, with an "engage every student" campaign to make sure our commuting and residential students have the best possible experience. I plan on enhancing communications, offering a more personalised experience for those wishing to find out more about college life, with regular updates on how to get involved - ensuring that there are opportunities to support you when you graduate.
  • I plan on ensuring that all fundraising initiatives support students with cost-of-living, ensuring all students have access to food, heating, and essential resources. I pledge to continue to fight for estates related issues - including accommodation, security and campus safety, maintenance and catering.
  • I plan on asking the university to reinstate regular meetings with senior management, so that I am able to secure resources to make these goals happen.

Why vote for me, again?

By voting for me, I pledge to celebrate diversity; ensure you have the best student experience; and are provided with opportunities to help you progress beyond your studies. Whilst Froebel College has amazing grounds, Froebel College to me is all about its people, you. It's time we utilise all campus spaces, work collaboratively with our friends from other colleges, and have the best year yet.
