For the Student voice!

Hello! My name is Anthony, long time resident of Whitelands having lived on the campus for my first and second years. I've even had experience working with the Whitelands community last year with my time on the Events Committee. I am currently studying History, and I am even doing my dissertation on Whitelands due to how close to my heart the campus is to me.

Whilst these are trying and hard times, I wish to return some form of normality back to Whitelands. I stand off course with the same manifesto which I ran with for President of Whitelands, making motions towards:

  • A stronger student community
  • A book share on Whitelands
  • Free female hygiene products on Whitelands
  • More events for students
  • A utilsation of the field and the Sett
  • Making the Sett more accomodating for Students
  • Support for Off Campus students
  • More information for students on the history and background of Whitelands

However, due to the current situation not all of these can be done. Therefore I want to shift my attention from these in person events and move more online. I feel that it is extremely important to really engage with the new freshers and returning students who may feel lonely and isolated at this period of time. Which is why I want a push for more online events on Whitelands, ranging from quizzes to an online meet and greet for students so that when lockdown does end people already know other people around the Whitelands Campus. I also want to make ensure that the students of Whitelands are properly protected against Coronavirus, and can go to lectures or around campus feeling safe and secure.

Thank you for reading and I hope to be your deputy next year!
