Got an idea of how RSU could work better for students?

You're the students, and the RSU is run by you, so tell the RSU what you want us to do and campaign on.

All you have to do is submit your idea below, once submitted you have 2 weeks to first of all get 1% of the student population to vote on it (currently 80 students). Then secondly, 50% +1 of those who voted to vote in favour of your idea. Once you reach the required number of votes, SUC will review the idea and vote for it to become Policy of the RSU. It's that simple!!!

Once Policy, the RSU will campaign, lobby and if we can, enact your idea, to try to improve student life here at Roehampton.

Watch the video to find out how the Ideas page works!

So, what are you waiting for?

    Rent Refund

The university should refund a percentage of accommodation rent payments for this term until teaching resumes in person on the 25/01/21. They did it last term during the lockdown, why not now? This should especially cover the Christmas period due to the government guidelines that were announced to allow students to go home during the travel window of the 3rd-9th December and consequently had to attend online lectures rather than the in-person lectures that students believed would run the whole term. Therefore, 100% of the rent after the 3rd of December to the end of teaching before Christmas should be refunded to students as people have been actively encouraged by the government to not live in the accommodation that had already been paid for. Other universities such as Manchester Uni has agreed to a 30% rent reduction for this term, University of Liverpool students are also receiving rent rebates for the dates of 03/12/20-18/12/20 and are offering rebates for 04/12/20-25/12/20.

After you've submitted your Idea, there will be a two-week period where students can vote on it.

After this period, your Idea will be sorted into one of the below categories. You can click through to see other Ideas that have fallen into these categories.

These are Ideas that have received enough votes to go to SUC. Since then, they have been passed and are now RSU policy. The RSU will campaign to implement these ideas on your behalf.

These are Ideas that have been rejected by the Roehampton community. This is because they have either not receive enough votes in the two-week period, or more students voted against the idea than for it.

These are Ideas that have been referred to the Trustee Board by SUC. The will be because SUC feels the Idea needs to be scrutinised further due to financial, legal or ethical risk, or if it puts the reputation of the RSU in jeopardy.

These are Ideas that have not recieved the 1% vote of the student population within two weeks of being submitted Ideas that did not get enough votes cannot be resubmitted until the new term.
