Our School Reps actively raise student feedback and work with the Students’ Union and University teams to improve students’ academic experience.
Congratulations
Mohamed Islem Rezza Baara, CEBE Postgraduate School Representative, has been selected for the Commonwealth Student Community for AI Governance.
As part of this international initiative, Islem will work alongside students from across the Commonwealth to contribute to discussions on responsible AI policy and practice, helping shape recommendations for future AI governance.
This is a fantastic achievement and a wonderful opportunity to represent both Roehampton and our student community on a global stage. We are incredibly proud of Islem and look forward to seeing the impact of his contributions.
Hear from Islem:
“Since joining Roehampton, I’ve become increasingly involved in opportunities that connect my interest in AI with supporting other students. Alongside my MSc Artificial Intelligence, I’ve taken on responsibilities as CEBE Postgraduate School Representative and Vice-President of the AI & Computing Society, and I’m contributing to the University’s AI educational video initiative. Each experience has encouraged me to take more initiative and find ways to contribute.
Being accepted into the Commonwealth Student Community for AI Governance feels like a meaningful next step in that journey. Led by COL-CEMCA, the Asian regional centre of the Commonwealth of Learning, the initiative brings students from different countries and disciplines together to contribute to responsible AI policy and practice. Our initial work will include cohort discussions and recommendations towards a collective student submission for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
It’s an honour to represent Roehampton within this international student community. I’m looking forward to contributing my technical understanding and experience listening to students, while developing my policy-writing, leadership and international collaboration skills.
I also want to bring what I learn back to Roehampton through our student community and AI literacy activities, helping students use AI confidently, critically and responsibly.”
