Egg-citing news! Ten new hens are moving into the Growhampton Chicken Coop! 🐓🐓 

You may have seen the coop re-build earlier this year; our lovely Maintenance Team replaced the old tiny coop and built a much fancier and spacious home for even more beautiful chickens to run around in! We currently have two hens residing in the refurbished coop, but it won't be long before the girls have some friends to join them.

Here come the girls!

We are rescuing ten (ex-)caged hens through the British Hen Welfare Trust. The hens will be collected this Sunday (26 July) from the farm, checked by a vet, before “adopters” pick them up early afternoon.

Over the years, all of our Growhampton chickens have been rescues.

The aim is to rehabilitate those who have perhaps not had the greatest start to life, and make sure they grow into healthy and happy chickens. We have a wonderful team of volunteers who take time out of their day to check in, feed, and look after the chickens, as well as maintain the coop facilities. 

Chicken Volunteering is organised online, allowing flexibility with no minimum or fixed commitment to certain days - perfect to fit around busy schedules! As a thank you for their help, volunteers earn a free refreshment from the Hive Café, or freshly laid egg.
