The Legal Drafting Society is delighted to invite you to our first workshop, an interactive introduction to the essentials of commercial contracts and legal drafting.
Whether you study Law, Business, Economics, or another subject entirely, this workshop is an excellent opportunity to gain practical insight into how commercial contracts work and how they are drafted.
During the session, we will take you through the process of drafting a commercial contract step by step. You will learn how to:
- Read and understand the key provisions of a commercial contract;
- Analyse and work with the terms and conditions proposed by both parties;
- Use relevant legal principles, including the Sale of Goods Act 1979 and the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977;
- Draft contractual provisions that address the interests of both parties;
- Navigate more complex and potentially challenging clauses; and
- Develop a practical understanding of how to draft an essential commercial legal document.
By the end of the workshop, you will have a foundational understanding of commercial contract drafting and the skills involved in putting together a contract yourself.
This is a learning-focused, interactive session designed to develop practical skills rather than provide legal advice. No prior experience in commercial law or legal drafting is required.
