Roehampton Students’ Union is proud to announce that the Growhampton project has won an award at the Sustainable City Awards.

The project, led by Celia Briseid, was entered into the ‘Healthier Places’ category which looks to reward “best practice in promoting working-environments and cultures which benefit the well-being of workers or citizens, such as work-space, facilities, and social and community initiatives”

The Sustainable City Awards celebrate the best examples of innovation and good practice, for a smarter, healthier and more environmentally friendly world.

Coordinated and managed by the London Sustainability Exchange, the awards give recognition to and rewards best practice in environmental management and sustainable leadership.

Growhampton Coordinator Celia Briseid was ecstatic to receive the award “We are very proud to have been nominated for this award. We were up against some truly amazing projects and winning the award acknowledges the hard work of our staff and students that volunteer with the project.

“It sends a message of hope in these times of significant challenges for people and the planet. It motivates us to move forward and develop to keep engaging young people with food and sustainability, on campus and beyond”.

The Growhampton project works as an educational tool and community builder, developing employability skills, bolstering youth development and enhancing physical and mental health whilst improving diet and overall public health.

“We are looking forward to continuing to work towards these goals, and having a positive impact on our campus ecosystem.”
