- Campus grown, campus made
In November 2016 we were successful in receiving £1000 funding to set up a new student enterprise to produce preseves such as pesto, chutney, jams, cordials and more based on seasonal availability.
On the 9th March 2017 a dedicated group of students launched their social enterprise 'This is Our Jam' with great success.
Through food education and preservemaking classes we will be able to provide our students with the skills and knowledge that they will need to increase their employability, as well as encouraging them to become well-rounded members of society, making more sustainable choices. It is important to us to develop a sense of community with the students that participate with our sessions through social interactions, fun activities and approachable staff and student leaders. We will constantly strive to develop our project in the best possible way by encouraging feedback from students and do a yearly review of our project.
We will ensure that we stick to Growhampton's values of being ethical, promoting a healthy life style, encouraging volunteering and including elements of education within each session through the enterprise and cooking classes. The profits that we make will go straight back into the Growhampton project and go towards the continuation and development of 'This is Our Jam'. This will allow us to put on more events and food education sessions for our student, allowing them to gain valuable skills and experiences at university.
We hope to educate our students about sustainable food, giving them access to affordable, good quality products and instilling invaluable life skills within an inclusive and friendly environment.
