Road Closures and Traffic:
It’s likely that TFL roadworks could resume around Christmas, so we recommend you plan your routes in advance to avoid hitting any roadworks that could slow down or stop your journey. You can check what works are planned on the TFL website here.
On New Years’ Eve, many London roads will be closed to prepare for the firework display (by the London Eye and Big Ben along the River Thames). Similarly, many forms of transport will be affected by the firework display. You can read what major works and alterations are scheduled on the TFL website here.
You can also expect quite heavy traffic around the festive period, as many people will be travelling to meet family and friends. We recommend looking at these helpful tips for driving safely during the Christmas Period.
Parking in London:
Parking in London is always expensive and hard to come by all year round. Unless you have a designated parking space it would be wise to avoid parking in London. However, if you must, use the YourParkingSpace.com website to compare and find the cheapest places
Public Transport:

Across the Christmas Period, public transport will operate on a “Christmas Service” which means the usual service and times will be altered. This includes services such as buses, tubes, trains and ferries. You can view the TFL service for each day over the festive break here.
Safer Travelling:

We recognise that traveling at night can be quite daunting, and it’s important to keep yourself as safe as possible. If you’re traveling with TFL, you can read about safe nighttime travel options here.
