Trans Day of Visibility 2026

We want to wish our Roehampton LGBTQIA+ community a very happy Trans Day of Visibility

We want to wish our Roehampton LGBTQIA+ community a very happy Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV).

Today, we celebrate the strength and brilliance of trans people. A day dedicated to honouring trans joy, highlighting trans achievements, and recognising the many ways trans individuals enrich university life, our communities, and our wider world. TDOV shines a spotlight on the stories and successes that deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated not just today, but every single day.

At the same time, we acknowledge that many trans people continue to experience discrimination, marginalisation, and disproportionate challenges, including higher risks of poverty, homelessness, and violence. TDOV invites us not only to recognise these realities, but also to recognise the resilience, courage, and determination the trans community continues to show despite these challenges.

In a global climate where anti‑trans rhetoric is increasing, celebrating trans lives and loving trans people is one of the most powerful forms of solidarity and resistance. Today reminds us of the importance of standing together, being active and vocal allies, amplifying trans voices, and working collectively towards a future where trans people are safe, supported, valued, and fully included.

We are incredibly proud of our trans students. Your presence and contributions make Roehampton stronger. You shape our community in powerful and lasting ways, reminding us every day that visibility is not only brave, it is beautiful and a joy to see. Your visibility shows us that a more hopeful future is possible, and that by working together, we can help make that future a reality.
