What has happened?
In the early hours of Monday 6th February 2023, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck near Turkey’s border with northern Syria. Nearly 16,000 people have sadly lost their lives and thousands are without water, fuel or electricity. The weather conditions are additionally adding to the existing difficulties due to heavy rain, snow and freezing temperatures at night.
What can you do to help?
Many local centres are currently overwhelmed with clothing and bedding donations; however, they may need volunteers to help organise donated items. If you have clothing that you no longer need or wish to donate, consider donating to a charity shop. The funds raised from these items will support the people in Turkey and Syria.
