Irene Reynolds, Vice President Education, has formally notified Roehampton Students’ Union’s Board of Trustees that she is resigning from her role, with her last day working day being 16 December 2025.
Irene commented: “This decision has not been an easy one, as my time at RSU has been incredibly rewarding both professionally and personally.
“I have greatly valued the chance to work alongside such a supportive and passionate team, and to represent and advocate for Roehampton students in ways that have genuinely shaped my understanding of leadership, education, and community.
“The experiences, relationships, and lessons I have gained here will stay with me long beyond my term of office.”
Irene joined the Students’ Union in July 2024 having been elected as VP Education and successfully stood for re-election to a second term in the March 2025 elections.
She has been at the forefront of the Union’s re-launch of academic representation, working closely with academic colleagues and senior leaders within the University to advocate for students and lobby for improvements to the academic experience.
Working closely with University departments and the then Vice President Welfare, Adam Fester, Irene launched Wellbeing Wednesdays, to offer an alternative range of events and social activity for students not involved in sports, with a key focus on mental health initiatives, creativity, and community building.
This year, she launched the Learning English for Academic Purposes project, a free programme providing a mix of structured English classes and informal opportunities for conversation and cultural exchange that supports international students in developing their confidence and fluency.
The Board would like to thank Irene for her hard work, drive, and leadership throughout her tenure. She has been an outstanding officer who has championed students at all levels of the University and at the national level, as both a delegate at multiple National Union of Students (NUS) conferences and All Party Parliamentary Groups at Westminster.
Following an extraordinary meeting of the Board on 21 November, we can confirm that the role of VP Education will not be re-elected within this academic year.
We are finalising plans to ensure continuity and support for students for the remainder of this academic year and next steps will be communicated shortly.
