Meet your new President of Roehampton Students' Union. Joshua has begun his year with us and is ready to represent you. Find out what he has to say...
Dear Roehampton Students,
I am thrilled to step into the role of your Students’ Union President! This isn’t just a position for me, it is a promise to amplify your voices, champion your ideas, and build a vibrant and inclusive community where every student thrives.
As we begin, I want to reiterate my vision and invite you to join me in making it a reality. First, let’s talk about you. Whether you’re a first-year student finding your footing, a final-year chasing big dreams, a post-graduate student broadening your knowledge or somewhere in between, your experiences matter. The Students’ Union is here to support you—academically, socially, and personally.
My goal is to ensure every student feels heard, valued, and empowered.
Got an idea, concern, or passion project?
I’m just an email away! As I have promised in my manifesto, this year my priorities as President shall be championing causes surrounding your basic needs such as:
- Good and affordable food options on campus
- Improved facility management
- Flexible part-time jobs and placement opportunities to help with the cost of living and career readiness
We will work towards ensuring you have a union that continuously protects your interests as a student community and see to it that your voices are not just heard, but every concern raised by your voices are diligently acted upon.
My email is: RSUpresident@roehampton.ac.uk
However, this is not a solo mission—it is a chance for us to work together! Sammy, Irene and I (your Sabbatical Officers) will need your ideas, energy, and feedback to make this year unforgettable. We are aiming to introduce things like a monthly open forum where students can come together with the sabbatical officers to have a chat, creating a space to share your ideas, complaints and concerns with us directly every month. This will give us the chance to feedback to you on actions based around issues you raise, as well as giving you transparent reports on the state of the Students' Union. Keep a sharp eye on my future blogs for more updates on these projects.
Want to get involved?
Volunteer. Become an academic rep, a society committee member or a student trustee, etc — there’s a spot for everyone. Let’s make this year one where we laugh louder, support stronger, and dream bigger.
Together, we’ll turn challenges into opportunities and ideas into action. I’m beyond excited to lead, listen, and work alongside you to make University of Roehampton the best it can be. With God on my side and your support, we will achieve great things together.
Love,
Joshua Kayode,
RSU President
