Over £1,000 Paid to Students in Our First Survey Superheroes

We’ve already paid out over £1,000 to students who took part in our very first Survey Superhero campaign. Take a look at what we found out!

Last month, we launched our brand-new Survey Superhero initiative, a new way for students to earn money in exchange for sharing their feedback and insight on services provided by the Union and the University.

We’re pleased to announce that we’ve already paid out over £1,000 to students who took part in our very first Survey Superhero campaign.

Between 16 January and 1 February, we asked students to share their views on three key areas:

Catering

We asked students about:

  • How often they use on-campus catering outlets

  • The quality of food and drink

  • Whether dietary requirements are catered for

  • Cuisines they would like to see more of

  • The quality of service provided by catering staff

  • Cleanliness of outlets

  • Whether opening hours meet students’ needs

  • Value for money

  • What they would immediately change about on-campus catering

Sport

We asked students about:

  • Participation in sport over the past 28 days

  • Where they take part in sport

  • Satisfaction with indoor and outdoor facilities

  • The range of sports and activities available

  • Affordability

  • Barriers to participation

  • Inclusivity and sense of belonging

  • Communication and promotion of sport

  • The impact of sport on wellbeing and connection to the university community

Student Priorities

Students were also asked to rank key themes from Very Important to Very Unimportant, including:

  • Employment & Career Development

  • Cost of Living & Financial Support

  • Housing & Accommodation

  • Sustainability & Environment

  • Campus Community & Wellbeing

  • Mental Health & Wellbeing

  • Transport & Accessibility

  • Campus Facilities & Digital Services

  • Academic Experience & Teaching Quality

  • Sport, Fitness & Wellbeing

  • Social, Cultural & Student Life

From these rankings, we identified the top six themes’ students want us to focus on next academic year.

These have now become our official Student Priorities, forming part of the upcoming Student Leadership Elections. Your next elected Sabbatical Officers will work directly on the issues you told us matter the most to you.

What’s Next?

We are already working on our second Survey Superhero, giving more students the opportunity to shape change — and get rewarded for it.
