Roehampton continues to celebrate its diverse and international student body with the Learning English for Academic Purposes (L.E.A.P.) Programme - a free initiative designed to help students build confidence, improve their English, and thrive academically.
Open to all students who speak English as an additional language, the programme combines structured learning with informal social opportunities, creating a supportive environment for language development and cultural exchange.
What’s Included?
1. Conversation Café (6 April – 1 June)
Taking place every Monday from 13:00 to 14:00 in The Well (Southlands Chapel), the Conversation Café provides a relaxed, informal setting where students can practise speaking English, meet new people, and share experiences. No booking is required - students can simply turn up and join in.
2. English Support Drop-In (Online) (6 April – 1 June)
Running every Monday from 14:00 to 15:00, the online drop-in session offers students a chance to ask questions, learn more about the programme, and get guidance on how to access support.

3. Free English Language Classes (6 April – 1 June)
Held every Monday from 17:00 to 18:30 in QB150 (Southlands Queen’s Building), these sessions focus on developing academic English skills essential for university success.
As spaces are limited, students are encouraged to register early to secure their place: HERE
Why It Matters?
The L.E.A.P. Programme is a university-funded initiative delivered in partnership with Roehampton Students’ Union. Together, they aim to ensure international students feel supported both academically and socially, while strengthening the sense of community on campus.
With students from over 180 countries, Roehampton’s global community is one of its greatest strengths and L.E.A.P. — plays a key role in helping students feel at home while achieving their full potential.
