Well, well well, that month flew by fast and now we are only a couple of weeks away from everyone coming back and making even more memories! But what has gone on this month though?
Black History Month Preparations
One of my campaigns has been working towards creating a memorable Black History Month (BHM) celebration. I have been collaborating closely with various societies and the presidents and deputies from all four colleges to plan a diverse range of events and activities. Our goal is to make this BHM not only educational but also engaging and inclusive for all students.
Student Trustee Appointments
I had the privilege of sitting on the panel for appointing three new student trustees. This experience was not only enlightening but also taught me valuable skills in assessment and decision-making. I am confident that the selected trustees will bring fresh perspectives and ideas to benefit our student body.
College Cup Enhancements
I am thrilled to announce that we have finalized plans for this year's College Cup, and it is shaping up to be better than ever! We have incorporated feedback from previous years and added some exciting new elements that I am sure you will all enjoy. Stay tuned for more details!
Supporting International Students
Recognizing the unique challenges faced by international students, me and Irene have been working in collaboration to create an International Student Welcome Pack. This comprehensive guide aims to make the transition to life in the UK as smooth as possible.
Collaboration with RSU Staff and Sabbatical Officers
To ensure a cohesive approach to student support, I have been working closely with other RSU staff members to understand their objectives and explore ways we can collaborate effectively. This integrated approach will allow us to provide better services and support to all students. Also, we have been to Royal Holloway to meet other London Sabbatical officers to understand what we as London universities can do together to make some change!
Something I will add at the end of these blog posts through the months is a quote I learnt from the past month.
Quote of the month: "It’s OKAY to be scared. Being scared means you’re about to do something really, really brave." Mandy Hale
