Roe Re-home

Don't throw away, recycle for another day

Each term, students produce tons of waste when they move out of halls. A lot of the waste consists of clothes, books, kitchen ware and unopened food. Several of these items are still useable. To reuse or recycle as many of the unwanted items as possible, Growhampton collaborates with different charities to support their great work; this year we've collaborated with Brixton Soup Kitchen and British Heart Foundation.

Roe Rehome’s objective is to improve the sustainability of the university campus through reuse and recycling unwanted items. We encouraged students to donate food, kitchen equipment, clothes, shoes, homeware, books and pads when students move out out of halls.

It is really easy to donate. Everything you give supports a range of charities, reduces waste and helps avoid CO2 emissions.

  • Reuse: Please donate anything which is in good condition; all donations can be put to good use through charity.
  • Recycle: Please make sure nothing goes to waste unnecessarily; most things which are made of a single material can be recycled.

Please take your clean, reusable items that you do not intend to take home to the designated donation boxes and leave recycling in the sack provided in your room at the end of term.

Our charities

Thrift Shop: One student's trash, another one's treasure. All income to the Thrift Shop will support the continuation of Growhampton.

Homeless Period: For homeless women, it really is that dreaded time of the month. With limited or no access to sanitary products, they're often forced to go without. This initiative believes that tampons and towels should be made available through homeless shelters, the same way the government provides condoms. To show your support, share the site, sign the petition, or donate a tampon.

British Heart Foundation: The nation's heart charity and the largest independent funder of cardiovascular research. The BHF are the UK's number one heart charity and through 50 years of funding cutting edge research and have already made a big difference to people's lives.
