Overview
This week's 'Learn to Grow' session (23rd) will focus on setting up a university medicinal garden. Exciting! This is an initiative led by current students and we'd love for you to get involved and help get it up and running!
By taking a grassroots approach to herbalism and medicine, we can learn more about the healing qualities of plants and reconnect with how nourish and heal ourselves. Around two thirds of pharmaceuticals are still derived from plant sources today. Become more self-reliant and resilient by taking back our wisdom and bring healing into your own hands.
What you will learn:
- How to harvest, dry and store plant material
- Growing conditions of individual plants
- Basic botany and plant identification
- How to plant / grow herbs
- Medicine making: we will learn how to make face creme
We will also enjoy a fresh cup of herbal tea at the end of the session from herbs growing in the community garden.
Meet in front of the RSU Reception at 2 pm, or come to the Project Grow raised beds next to the tennis courts on Froebel Campus, if you're joining later.
It's a drop in, drop out session, so don't worry if you can only join for an hour. No experience necessary, all welcome!!
Free tea / coffee card for volunteers.
