For my manifesto I want to followbackground three ideas:
1) Opportunity - As students, we are lucky enough to showcase our own work without having to go through the same steps as professionals in the industry. With background knowledge from my course, as well as previous work experience as a technician, I want to expand the producers/directors/performers vision by offering them more technical knowledge that they may have not known themselves.
2) Efficiency - This year I have managed to balance FOUR modules, as well as three shows all in the space of one term. I did this with time efficiency and punctuality. If a student wishes for my assistance, I will make sure I schedule in the time for everyone who needs me. This is to create and efficient working progress.
3) Creativity - No idea is too extreme or too minuscule. Every idea can be worked on and adapted to achieve the best possible outcome. Being part of an arts society means our job is to continue creating and exploring new ideas. This comes from everyone aka. Writers, directors, performers, technicians, assistants, etc. As tech officer I will make sure my field is as equally strong and compelling as the other elements in a creative piece.
I've always been a theatre lover and in the last decade I have been specialising with behind the scenes. I have written and directed my own student shows since high school, been the ONLY technician assistant with the one technician at my college, at most recently I had been working to put on the musical Legally Blonde with our fellow drama society. I have good contact with our drama technician and a ton of experience in sections from lighting to costume to directing to set design. I'm hoping to do an MA degree in sceanography and/or theatre tech in the future.
