To all Friends and Family of Univeral Black Minds Society,
My name is Kiyana Bartley, commonly known as Kiki, and I will be running once again for UBM President. Due to the unexpected halt to society activities, a large number of events we had planned couldn't come to pass. With this being said, I would love to step up to this position once more and make all of the exciting plans we had come to pass.
Last year, we were unsuccessful in producing a follow-up Winter Ball event, which I am adamant to make happen this year and make it as successful as possible. We have made friends with charities and organisations who we never got the chance to fundraise and advertise in term time due to COVID-19. Therefore, I plan to take fast action toward working with them in the next term.
I believe that I will prosper in this role due to the fact that I have gained much more confidence as an individual and take a lot of pride in the fortunes of this society. I've now created relationships with important university figures and societies, both inside and outside of Roehampton, making bigger collaborations more possible. We had a few times of hardship last year which we were able to overcome, hence giving me a better mindset in how to communicate and work with my team. Now, I can confidently say that a supportive team and I can create both internal and external events successfully without much hassle.
UBM was the society that embraced me in my first year, the society that took me out my shell in my second year and I would love it to be the society I leave my legacy in my final year. Thank you for reading this and I hope I have your vote!
