Manifesto
I have had a passion for the environment my whole life which has increasingly become emphasized during my years at Roehampton and has led me to many programs on campus and volunteering with Growhampton. Last year I won Volunteer of Year with Growhampton and I look forward to working  closely with volunteers and the staff that support all of the different projects. I want to continue growing the great projects on campus and implement some of my own as I have enjoyed my time working with and meeting all the great students that are pushing our university forward on its journey to sustainability. 

The projects I would like to spearhead:

•    I would like to introduce compost bins on each college to increase students awareness and access to better environmental choices. Compost bins on campus will allow student to contribute to the environment around campus if they don’t have time to volunteer. This will also help Growhampton’s projects the gardens and poly-tunnel. In addition it would be a benefit to my second project. 

•    Working with the landscaping team to better use our campus green space. I want to increase the amount of functional gardening space by introducing permaculture to Roehampton’s campus. This is a system in which implements functional, sustainable use to our agriculture, changing the goal from just looking pretty to being both environmentally efficient and pleasing to the eye. 

•    I would like to create sustainability goals and actions plan for the academic departments. To ensure that progress in sustainability will be long term, it is important that everyone on campus has a goal. I will work with the department heads and the program representatives to narrow down the amount of paper used and resources that students find useful. 

•    I would like to work with the RSU and other officers to gain insight into how I can make sustainable accessible to all projects run within the union. It's important to me that I am a resource and available to everyone. I want to create a culture in the university both social and academic that sustainable isn’t an afterthought. I want to create long-term goals with an end date to have measurable progress.
