Badger pride will make a comeback with me as your deputy president!

Hello, my name is Samir Abubakar. I’m in my second year studying psychology and I am running to be your Whiteland’s deputy president. I have chosen to undertake this role because I think it is necessary to put Whiteland’s on the social forefront of our university.

This role entails specific attention to social events, having experience organising and hosting events such as the mental health and black history month spoken word as well as assisting in universal black minds activities allow me to put into practice on a grander scale all the skills I have learnt. I believe that I am prepared to listen to the students and not only listen but move forward and make sure it happens! I have also gained the skill to network and work within groups to get different perspectives and aspects to make events more inclusive to all students. I am also vocal and creative enabling me to take ideas and form great events. I will implement my ideas and those of the students. This will form a community where ideas can be shared. I believe these skills make an ideal candidate for the role.

If elected I would aim to:

-       work closely alongside Whiteland’s president to ensure the betterment of Whiteland’s as a whole.

-        I will also ensure new series of events aimed at getting more people involved with Whiteland’s to help increase the outreach and reputation across the university and freshers.

-       Ensure that there will opportunities for volunteering on Whiteland’s thus helping raise money for various charities.

-       I will make sure to be involved in RSU events around campus so people can recognise me and feel comfortable to talk to me.

I believe these aims will have a positive impact on Whiteland’s campus because it will help build a strong community of students that will be able to share their ideas, as well as integrate with other colleges.

Badger pride will make a comeback with me as your deputy president!
