My name is Edward Cousins, and I am running to be your next RSU President. My experiences as a NUS delegate, a student and the Vice President of one of the fastest growing societies on campus has given me a unique insight into the issues that we all face.

As your President, here are the issues I would address, together with you:

SAFETY AROUND CAMPUS

• The safety of all Roehampton students on campus and surrounding areas will be one my priorities.
• I will work towards increasing the presence of the Bystander intervention team, to ensure that all students feel safe to enjoy themselves at RSU events.
• I will work towards an increase in the awareness of all students about consent. We must educate and communicate that we have a zero tolerance towards sexual harassment in all its forms.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

• Roehampton is a rich and diverse community with 55% BAME students. I will work to ensure that the different cultures and backgrounds which enrich our campus are well represented and celebrated.
• It is my aim to work towards improving existing events on offer, as well offering a range of diverse events which represent the cohort of students at Roehampton.
• Under my leadership, every student, regardless of their race, religion or sexual orientation will be listened to and represented by the RSU

MENTAL HEALTH

• I will work to improve the services for mental health and waiting times for counselling. We cannot keep people who are vulnerable and at risk waiting.
• As RSU President, representation in key and vital services such as wellbeing, will be a priority. If students are going to get the support they require, then they must feel comfortable that their story will be heard by someone who understands them.

As your President, I will work tirelessly with you the individual, the societies and clubs that represent and make you feel at home, to ensure that this Roehampton, feels once again like home.
