Together we can make Digby a safer, happier place for everyone to enjoy.

Hi! My name is Ellie Hall, I am a second year Drama, Theatre and Performance studies student and I want to be your next Digby Deputy President. I want to bring back the college spirit to Digby Stuart for all people to feel safe, comfortable and most importantly, happy.

You may recognise me through Jazz Band, RAG(last year), drama and as a flat rep in Lee House, soon to be senior flat rep come September. If not, I look forward to getting to know you in the next few weeks.

I am a hardworking, organised, friendly student who has key skills in listening and communication which I would be able to bring to the role of your deputy president. As a drama student, I have refined these skills and am constantly using them to support my fellow students- hopefully this will include you too!

If elected, I would focus on our safety as students and how it can be improved. I would push for the doors of accommodation to be upgraded, so that they are not constantly broken or easily opened without a key card access. Not only that, but to increase safety on nights out- I would aim to create a female Facebook page to allow both students and staff to communicate helpful tips on how to stay safe, to alert others on crimes and issues, recommend taxi companies etc… The page would allow the girls of Digby to have a safe space to communicate to each other after incidents and nights out. This is like the to the ‘Girl Gang’ Facebook trend which has been shown to be effective in other universities.

As your deputy, I would aim to create greater social areas and activities to bring Digby closer together, from accommodation block nights to social areas for all to enjoy. This would include nights out, open mic nights and more relaxed gatherings in the diner- opening spaces for us to all appreciate. This means as a college, we would be a force to be reckoned with especially with college cup and Frigby.

I would want to increase the communications between security, the college team and accommodation. The president and I would open the conversation of how we can help how to live on campus safely and more efficiently. Through greater communication, we as a college can maintain and improve relationships between staff and students.

If elected I would attempt to make the college more environmentally friendly. Key ideas of this would be having food waste bins, encourage the college have greater involvement with Growhampton and beautify Digby square. These initial steps will help develop Digby to be more attractive, create a welcoming social space and begin to become a greater eco-friendly campus.  It would be a space we could be proud of.

Overall, I am here for you and together we can make the change. Together we can make Digby a safer, happier place for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you!
Ellie
