Don't be silly, vote for Lily!

Hey, I’m Lily! But you might know me better as your Gender Equality Officer, or the one who brought curly fries back to Pub Grub. This year I’m running to be your VP Community and Welfare, and I’m here to tell you why you should vote for me!

I love Roehampton, and my time being a student and a Part Time Officer here has taught me how passionate I am about this university and how I want to use my time here to change things for the better. I have a lot of ideas, and I hope that you like them.

·         Firstly, I want to improve security on campus to create a safer environment for everyone. Security need more presence on campus 24 hours a day, especially on weekends, need to be stricter when checking ID’s, and always have the students’ wellbeing at the forefront of their minds.

·         Next, I want to improve resources for STD testing at Roehampton, making it accessible to all to test for a wide range of STD’s for free on campus, breaking down stigma surrounding sexual health and wellbeing.

·         I want to implement mental health first aid training for all flat reps and senior flat reps across the colleges and improve flat rep training for all to include more training for mental health, consent, sexual health and healthy relationships, including LGBTQ+ relationships and sexual health.

·         I will continue the work I have been doing this year as Gender Equality Officer to improve reporting systems for sexual abuse and harassment at university, working with the Safer Roehampton Intern, the Bystander Intervention team, the Wellbeing Team and the Gender Equality Officer to provide inclusive support for everyone at Roehampton.

·         I want to keep working with the Mental Health Network to continue their hard work and help break down the stigma surrounding mental health at the university and beyond, improving the lives of students and promoting mental health and wellbeing for all.

·         To improve everyone’s mental health and wellbeing I want to create more events that don’t centre around drinking, especially more puppy room events! And create a kitten room, because some people are cat people!

·         I want to create an eco-friendlier campus by working with Growhampton to work towards eliminating single-use plastic on campus and making eco-friendly sanitary products available on campus.

·         I want to support third year students more as they transition from university to their next steps, working with the VP Education to provide both academic and wellbeing support.

·         I want to create better communication between flat reps and the accommodation team, working faster to resolve issues within halls, and providing more support for flat reps.

·         I want to implement compulsory consent workshops within enrolment for all students, especially for new students, to educate them about such an important issue from the beginning.

Above everything, I want to make the RSU a RS-YOU, and bring some girl power back to the Sabb team!
