I am not running for a specific group of people, as president I will aim to support everyone, by encouraging equality and embracing difference. Whilst empowering all students at Roehampton.

Manifesto RSU President.

Your Union, Your Roehampton, Your Voice

Hello Roehampton,

My name is Dan O’Donoghue and I am a third year Business student and your current Froebel college president. I am campaigning to be your new RSU President. Throughout my three years at Roehampton I have made friends, learnt new skills, got to meet and work with amazing people from differing genders, cultures and backgrounds which has ultimately developed me into the person I am today, something I will always be grateful for. Below are a few of the manifesto points I wish to work on if successful.

-          Bridging the BAME attainment gap, as well as providing more platforms so that BAME students feel represented. The formation of a second BAME Officer role. Forming a BAME outreach program, in conjunction with the BAME officer and society’s and RSU to work with local schools, to deliver talks to young students looking to go into further education. Furthermore, building on the success of the current president and making the BAME students conference bigger and better.  As well as allowing students to have more freedom to run new events, as well as continuing events which have been hugely successful in past.

-          Work with the RSU, the University and Elior to Invest in our Union Bar, and the other social spaces around the University, creating more student focused areas; with better TV’s better seating, cheaper drink prices, relaxation zones as well as more communal games, such as pool tables, sports programs and games systems. To help foster a zone in which all students both on and off campus to enjoy and utilize

-          Move Sports and active communities (Sport Roehampton,) to the Lawrence building opposite the bar and merge them to operate in conjunction with the RSU and not as two separate entities. The move will create a hub around the major student area of campus. This would mean better accessibility for students to access the service of Sport Roehampton, as well as gain an emphasis of how sports can be a vessel for both physical and mental health whilst at university.

-          Work with all staff and students to implement feedback to improve the perception of the RSU in ensuring that its fully Accountable, Accessible and Transparent to all students. This will be from how the RSU is run, its disciplinary processes and how its viewed by students. Ultimately with the overall aim to make students aware that they can access all the services provided by the RSU and have confidence that everyone is treated equally and fairly.

-          Continuing to champion awareness of Mental Health and explore ways in which we can foster positive change, to all aspects of University life to ensure that we break taboos surround it.

I am passionate about Roehampton. And would love to be considered as your next RSU President, so if you like what I hope to achieve, I would be most appreciative of your support.

Thank you for your time

 Dan O
