Your rights. Our rights. A fight for US!

Ciao, Jude here,

I often wear a colourful rainbow jacket, change my hair too much and I am about two feet tall, nice to meet you!

Sometimes people will ask: why did your parents call you Jude? For starters, they did not, but that’s not the easiest thing to explain. Have you ever found yourself in this awkward position? Sincerity is scary!

As trans individuals we face discrimination and hardships, but even just finding acceptance within oneself, sometimes, can be a struggle.

Growing up in a conservative Catholic state, in south Italy, the idea of being part of the lgbTq+ (or anything that is not white cis het) community was something that proved to be very dangerous and scary, and coming out meant putting my own safety at risk. England and the University of Roehampton have shown me a new perspective: the possibility to live myself and my identity to the fullest.

I am filled with pride and inspiration and I need to give back, I need to pass on the support I once thought I could never receive.

If you are a man, woman, nonbinary or however you would rather define your gender, you are not just valid, you are much more than that, and I, Jude Stellato, identify as your trans officer!

Let’s explore together the way to SELF-LOVE:

obstacles will be in OUR way but it is always worth it to make the best out of Our journey, and that is much easier knowing WE will never have to do it alone again.

What We Need to build our support network:

  •  Raise awareness between counselling, post room staff and security on trans related issues (MUST respect personal pronouns, chosen name, etc.)

  • Mental Health resources better targeted to trans individuals, for example a Trans Support Group

  • More gender-neutral toilets: urgent need nearby classrooms (Duchesne for example)

  • Increase and improve trans representation in education (as even modules that treat gender are still almost solely taking it into account from the cisgender perspective)

  • Spread the word on Deed Polls and make the process smoother. I will be more than happy to help and go through every step with any students that might need it, from composing the deed & going to administration, to keeping you updated every step of the way

  • Improve trans integration in sport teams

  •  Let’s make Our very own trans conference

  •  More group activities such as game nights, movie nights, social events and outings

  •  Educational advertisement and opportunities for allies in order to remove stigmas and raise more awareness

Vote for me and I guarantee to push for Your rights, to push for Our rights,

to push and fight for Us!
