Hello everyone! I’m Mohammed Shihab and I am a penultimate year Business management and Entrepreneurship student. I’m excited to stand before you, as a candidate for the RSU presidency elections 2025. 

I currently represent Business school at RSU.  Over the time while being in University, I’ve experienced that University life is more than just classrooms and corridors, it’s a place where ideas are exchanged, skills are polished, connections are formed, and opportunities are Introduced. As an aspiring candidate for President, I want to create a more connected, supportive, Joy full and opportunity-filled university experience where every student feels empowered to reach their full potential. Whether it’s through networking, leadership opportunities, personal development, or student-led initiatives, my goal is to make sure no student feels lost or unsupported during their time here. 

These Goals are also aligned with my personal values of empowerment, community connection, fun and growth mindset. 

My top priorities are: 

Strengthening community and student connections:  

Will focus on creating and encouraging Stronger Student Networks via More events, discussion forums, and interactive spaces for students to engage. For this we will create open hour discussion sessions to support societies and clubs. 

Better Food Options on Campus:  

Food is a major part of student life, and everyone deserves access to good, nutritious, and affordable meals! I would Advocate for healthier, more affordable, and diverse meal options in university canteens. I will also Work with the university to bring in more student input on menus. Will also Introduce direct feedback systems so students can suggest improvements and report issues with food quality. 

Well-being & Student Support 

University life can be challenging, and every student deserves the right support to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially! 

I will work on Creating/reserving safe spaces on campus where students can relax, de-stress, and connect with others. 

Will also Advocate for more financial support options, including hardship funds and budgeting workshops. Promote a culture of well-being with mindfulness sessions, fitness initiatives, and stress-relief activities. 

More Opportunities & Career Growth 

Will put emphasis on Expanding networking events with industry professionals, alumni, and successful entrepreneurs. 

Will work closely with Roehampton careers team to Strengthen internship and job placement programs by collaborating with companies and organizations. 

Also, will Advocate for more practical learning experiences, such as work-study programs and hands-on projects. 

Together, we can build a university experience that is not just about education, but about empowerment. With the right mindset and the right opportunities, anything is possible to let us build that future where ideas turn into action, challenges become opportunities, and every student feels valued and heard.
