Manifesto for Student President: A Vision for Real Change
Hello, I’m Spyridon Nikolaou but you can call me Spyros. Im running for Student President with a singular purpose: to bring about meaningful, lasting change. This isn’t just about occupying a position—it’s about creating a student experience that truly serves all of us, from the quiet introverts to the loud extroverts, from the high achievers to those simply trying to find their way. If elected, I will fight for a university that works for you, not just for a select few.
1. A Student-Centred Voice The most important part of being a leader is listening. That’s why I will establish regular meetings and digital platforms where your voices are not only heard but acted upon. No matter what it is about, every student needs to feel that their concerns are valued. We won’t wait until the end of the year for feedback—we’ll make sure your views shape our university from the start.
2. Mental Health Support: Breaking the Silence Mental health is no longer something we can ignore. We all know the pressures university life can bring, and it’s time to stop pretending it’s something we can deal with on our own. If elected, I will push for more accessible counselling options, and a peer-support network where students can support each other.
3. An Inclusive Community for All Inclusivity isn’t a buzzword—it’s a necessity. I’m committed to ensuring our campus is one where everyone feels they truly belong, regardless of who they are. From organising more diverse events to ensuring all student groups have equal access to university resources. Whether you’re an international student far from home or someone looking for a space where you feel seen and heard, I’ll ensure there is no barrier to belonging.
4. Transparency and Accountability: No More Empty Promises A vote for me is a vote for honesty. I will ensure that all student council decisions are transparent and that you know exactly where your money is going. No more hidden agendas. You deserve clarity, especially when it comes to the budget and the decisions that affect your life at university. I will make sure that each and every student has access to the information they need.
5. Social Life: More Than Just a Side Note I want to uphold the spirit of community, putting fun in fundamental and multifunctional, with a calendar of social events that are inclusive and accessible to all. From cultural nights and music events to simple meetups and sports activities, I will push to create opportunities for students to connect outside of their academic responsibilities. This is your time to create memories and friendships that last a lifetime, and I’ll ensure you have those opportunities.
Conclusion: A Commitment to Change I’m not running for Student President just for a title—I’m running to make a difference and uphold a legacy for all of us. To make our university experience one that is diverse, inclusive, sustainable, supportive, and fun.
Vote for Spyros! Putting fun in fundamental and multifunctional. Since 2003
