Campaign to Gain

Hey, I’m Francesca Germaine Watson and I’m hoping to get your vote for Whitelands deputy president. Just a bit about me: I’m a first year Classical Studies student, my classes are held at Froebel, and I live in Kings, on Whitelands. Since I started what I wanted was the fun/memorable “uni experience” that we can all participate in. This, in fact, is what made me want to run for election, so my goals are:

1.Inclusivity with all students!

As I study on main campus, but live here on Whitelands, I feel that there is a bit of a gap between us and students on main campus. I think we need to open more communication with all the colleges in order for there to be an opportunity for everyone to participate in events. I know I always feel behind on what is going on, on main campus.

2.The use of the set bar!

I feel like the set bar would be a great way for Whitelands students themselves to socialise. Most events happen at the Union Bar, on main campus, but with us not always hearing about events, the set bar would be a great way for Whitelands students to socialise.

3. An improvement on flat facilities

This year has had a lot of problems for Whitelands regarding water- which was out of the university's hands- but what would be amazing is some more support with inadequate facilities. I know that a lot of people have been struggling with flooding from the shower, broken kettles/toaster, and no lights in the kitchen. I think it would be a great idea to focus on these issues, have them reported- and acknowledged. Wehave to live here, so we can’t ignore these issues!

4. Events on Whitelands

I feel like more needs to be done in order for Whitelands students to make the most out of their experience at Roehampton, and we can often feel distanced from the university being a separate campus. So, I think it would be a great idea to have some events held at Whitelands for all students. This would be great for students on main campus too who only come to Whitelands to study or who have never been.
