Ashley Joseph Leboho

The best candidate for your vote.

My name is Ashley Joseph Leboho, and I am a second-year BA Digital Media student running for President of Southlands College.

You may recognise me from one of my many university roles. Here are a few that have best prepared me to be a successful College President, as well as how I intend to put my experience to use:

Society Leader

  • I was elected President of the Roehampton Anime & Manga Society for two terms in a row, and my committee and I were awarded the RSU's Most Improved Society Award 2022 in recognition of our efforts.

    • Because of my previous experience as a President, I will be able to make Southlands a more cohesive community by serving as an approachable figure to all students and ensuring that you, whether a residential or commuting student, feel a sense of belonging and involvement with the college. I'll accomplish this by regularly creating polls and questionnaires for you to share your thoughts and ideas, as well as hosting discussion panels where you can express your concerns and feedback.

Southlands College Community Leader

  • As a Southlands College Community Leader, I have organised many events for both staff and students, such as movie nights, esports tournaments, afternoon tea and indoor games, and other activities.

    • As President of the College, I will listen to your suggestions in order to plan a broader range of cultural, academic, and social events.  In addition, I plan to collaborate with societies, other colleges, and the RSU to organise more intercollegiate and university-wide events.

Southlands Flat Representative

  • Since becoming a Flat Representative, I have been able to help the students in my residency by being a friendly face, being available to discuss any issues they may have, and informing them about various university events.

    • If elected, I will work with Flat Representatives to provide on-campus students with continuous support throughout the academic year via regular flat check-ins and activities. I will also work with the accommodation team to resolve issues as quickly as possible, providing additional channels for residential students to file complaints.

Student Ambassador

  • I've worked as a Student Ambassador at a variety of events, including open days, campus tours, welcome talks, and more, to help prospective and new students get to know Roehampton.

    • As a result, I am well-versed in the university's institutional structure, history, local area, and student support services. I plan to use this to make orientation easier for new students, both international and domestic, as well as to use various platforms to better direct current students to new opportunities.

I hope my interactions with you and/or my manifesto have convinced you that I am the best candidate for your vote. Thank you for considering me as President of Southlands College.
