JACK BAILEY’s PLAYERS PRESIDENT MANIFESTO!!!! 

Hi all! My name is Jack, I am 19 years old, and I am a second year Theatre Practices and Production student.

I have done shows last year such as Punk Rock, Les Miserables and Mean Girls at parodies, and was meant to be in Legally Blonde as Professor Callahan 

This year I have been the media officer for Players, answering messages and posting posts on the Instagram and other social pages.

I’ve also been a part of the two Holly’s production of Things I Know To Be True, which you can hopefully catch me in soon :) 

WHY SHOULD JACK BE PRESIDENT?

Great Question! Well apart from my good looks and ultimate charm (of course) I possess many different qualities:

• Hardworking.
• Passionate.
• Fun.
• Welcoming.
• Open to new ideas 

WHY PLAYERS?

I absolutely love Players and everyone involved in and around the society, and would absolutely love to take on a huge role such as Players President for next year. Players is different to other societies, we’re a family. I have made some of my best friends at uni through this society, and want to continue to make new friends next year.

THAT’S GREAT AND ALL JACK, BUT WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO IF YOU BECOME PRESIDENT?

Another top notch question from a top notch guy! It’s been a difficult year for everyone this year, so I want to make next year incredible:

Social events - I want to make Players more social than ever next year! I hope to bring in events such as Musical Theatre Karaoke nights, Players Quiz Nights, and the return of Parodies! 

Collaborations - I also want to get players involved and working with other societies in the Uni. This could be putting on a drinking night together, or even getting another society involved in a fun Olympics style games day on the lawn!

Charity Fundraisers - Next year I want to get everyone involved in fundraisers that Players will run. I don’t just want to come up with fundraiser ideas myself, oh no! I want people to come to me with ideas and projects that they are passionate about, and we can use the players platform to raise some money for some charities. This could be through a quiz night, a written show, etc. 

Getting freshers involved - I remember when I was a first year how key the then president Jack Edwards was in getting me to join the Players society (another Jack may I add ;). I hope that I will be able to do the same thing and get lots of different first years joining the university next year involved. I hope to do a welcome drinks event at the beginning of next year to get all the Freshers along, and introduce them to the team and the society and tell them what we’ve got in store for next year.

COVID :/ - Now, obviously, I should discuss the Elephant in the room, COVID. Whilst it looks like we may be seeing a bit of normality come September, it is still the number 1 priority for me that everyone in and around players at events feels safe. That’s why for next year I hope to continue on having the allocated safe-space officer for every show that our current president Becca brought back this year. I also want reiterate to the people of players that they can message the instagram, or anyone on the society for that matter, about any concerns or worries they have about anything, literally anything, I and everyone else will be there to help. Whilst having fun is obviously important, and a given if I’m president ;), I firstly want to make players a safe and secure environment for everyone.

I wanted to thank you all for taking the time out of your day for reading my manifesto. It’s been a tough year for us all, and hopefully, if you vote for me, it will be the best year ever next year!
