Who am I?

Hello hello!

My name is Harrison, your current Froebel Deputy President, and I would LOVE to continue my work with Froebel, by becoming your President next year!

This year, I have had many opportunities to meet so many students from different backgrounds. You may have seen me around working for the COVID team (through my work as a Senior Student Ambassador), or you may have seen me through my work with the Roehampton Dance Society over the past two years!

I would appreciate your vote in order to achieve the following points, providing COVID no longer being present:

1. Rebuilding Froebel Community through Events:

  • Regular off-campus nights, Christmas dinner, Froebel formal dinners, celebration evening, and Frigby

  • Froebel Holiday to Prague - as a student who has been on the holiday to Prague three years ago

  • Using Central London (theatre, museums, concerts)

  • Introduce a Froebel boat party (this could be an afternoon drinks cruise, a formal boat party or a river taxi)

  • Introudce a 3rd year education ball (as well as the already established dancers' ball)

2. Froebel College Kitchen supporting Commuting Students:

  • Computer room reopen for 24 hours

  • Add a TV, hosting daytime events

  • Rebuild Froebel Connect Programme - providing regular drop ins

  • Drop ’n’ Swap (books or food)

3. Mental Health & Campaigns:

  • #RUUp? (sleeping campaign) - organise a Froebel sleep out to support the homeless

  • #LGBTAlly - t-shirt design competition for College Cup in LGBT+ history month

  • Mental health campaigns - working with VP Community and Welfare and Male and Female Sport Presidents

  • Aim to make LGBTQ+ students feel more welcomed and included into their gendered college teams - working with LGBTQ+ Officer and Trans Students’ Officer

4. Flat Reps and Accommodation:

  • Organise a Flat Rep conference for academic, non-academic, and chaplaincy staff to raise awareness of their work - supporting January Flat Rep recruitment

  • Recognising Flat Reps as the bystanders, sign posters, entertainers, communicators and MORE!

  • Extra support for new flat reps in September due to not fully being able to explore Roehampton this year (led by our Senior Flat Reps) - enhancing students' on-campus experience

  • Chadwick West - have a postgraduate building rep appointed in September/October & work with Postgraduate Students’ Officer, Mature Students’ Officer and accommodation to ensure an increased safety and sense of community in this building

  • Create a system for students to be made aware of new arrivals to ensure safety in Froebel accommodation

5. Campus Safety and Sustainability:

  • Reduce food waste across campus: introduce an app to encourage sharing and trading food

  • Increased campus safety including improving Froebel pot holes

  • Continuing to form relationships with security, so that students from all backgrounds are treated equally and feel safe

  • Continuing to work with RSU Officers so that all students including BAME, LGBTQ+ and student with disabilities are supported

I have loved being your Deputy President this year, and would appreciate your vote to be your next Froebel President.
