Hello lovely people of Roehampton,

My name is Sabiha Aziz and I am a third year digital media student at Roehampton. Since joining the University, I cannot believe how far we’ve come. In my first year I stood for BAME students and work towards reimagining attainment for all students from every background.

I’ve been so lucky coming to Roehampton and meeting the people I have and experiencing the things I have.

In my experience I have had to overcome my barriers by being a female trying to break a male dominated industry. It is astounding to me that in this day and age we still have barriers to being treated as equals.

I see the opportunity to stand before you as gender equality officer has another chance to make long lasting change at Roehampton. Every student of every gender has a place at Roehampton. My vision does not put any students into a box. My vision gives every student the chance to reach beyond the capacity and fulfill their potential in this amazing time that we experience together.

My goals are to raise awareness around gender equality, to make all students find a place at Roehampton, to expand the student experience and ensure that every student his heard.

My idea of being a leader in gender equality is to be a force accelerating the changes you want to see. Me being in this role means I stand for you.
